Transition Planning for Military Families
*School Liaison Program
The school liaison Program is offered service-wide and is located in every state and country with an active-duty military installation.
Michelle Pennington is our school Military School Point of Contact. Beth Ledbetter(school Counselor) and Mrs. Pennington will work together to establish positive relationships with the children and their families, developing and enhancing parental engagement with the school and other agencies. Mrs. Ledbetter will talk with children experiencing difficulties and liaise with families to reflect at the concerns of the child.
Military Interstate Compact (MIC3)
The Council of State Governments (CSG), in cooperation with the Department of Defense, drafted the Compact to address some of the educational challenges transitioning children of military families face. The Compact addresses key educational transition issues including enrollment, placement, attendance, eligibility, and graduation. In addition, the Compact provides for a detailed governance structure at both the state and national levels with built-in enforcement and compliance mechanisms.
